We are looking for a passionate and ambitious Product Owner to lead the development of our music distribution platforms and integration tools. This role is ideal for someone with a strong product mindset, a solid technical background, and a desire to grow within the music tech industry.

Job responsibilities:

  • Product Strategy & Vision

    • Define and drive the product strategy for internal music tools and platforms — including TheSoul Sound, Muzee, ShortsPay+, and upcoming initiatives — ensuring alignment with company-wide creative and business objectives.
    • Identify emerging opportunities across music tech, creator tools, and short-form content monetization, and convert them into actionable product plans.
    • Maintain a long-term vision while delivering continuous value in fast-paced, iterative cycles.
  • Feature Definition & Execution

    • Translate stakeholder needs into detailed product requirements, prioritizing features that drive measurable user and business impact.
    • Own the product roadmap and ensure milestones are clearly communicated, tracked, and achieved across teams.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration

    • Serve as the central communication hub between music production teams, leadership, and engineering — aligning goals, timelines, and expectations.
    • Collaborate closely with internal creative, distribution, and monetization teams to define end-to-end product solutions.
    • Foster a shared product vision across departments, ensuring all collaborators are informed and engaged.
  • Shipping with Limited Development Bandwidth

    • Partner with an IT team — ensuring efficient use of resources while upholding product quality and velocity.
    • Drive clarity by providing structured requirements, context, and rationale, enabling IT Team to move with speed and confidence.
    • Support the team in overcoming ambiguity and ensuring that product value is delivered even under lean conditions.
  • Data-Driven Product Development

    • Build a strong understanding of performance metrics using raw data sources (e.g., CSV reports from music distributors) and work toward scalable analytics tools.
    • Collaborate with data analysts and internal users to generate actionable insights, validate hypotheses, and guide prioritization.
  • Stakeholder Communication & Product Advocacy

    • Regularly present product strategy, progress, and outcomes to senior leadership, advocating for user impact and business value.
    • Build trust and alignment by clearly articulating trade-offs, technical implications, and long-term vision.
    • Act as a product champion within the company, shaping a product-first culture even in teams that are not traditionally product-driven.

Requirements:

Professional Experience

  • Demonstrated track record of delivering products in resource-constrained settings while maintaining clarity and quality
  • Prior experience working with internal tools, automation systems, or creative/monetization platforms is a plus
  • 2+ years of experience in a Product Owner or Product Manager role in a tech-driven environment will be an advantage

Education

  • Higher education in Computer Science, Engineering, Product Management, or a related field is a plus, but not strictly required
  • Self-taught or bootcamp graduates with proven experience and passion are welcome

Core Product Skills

  • Strong understanding of product strategy, user-centered design, and iterative delivery
  • Ability to translate abstract ideas and stakeholder feedback into structured product plans, user stories, and prioritized roadmaps
  • Skilled in defining and tracking clear, measurable outcomes tied to user and business goals

Technical Skills

  • Comfortable working with IT teams, providing well-scoped requirements, technical context, and prioritization
  • Experience working with data formats such as CSV, XML; familiarity with metadata structures used in music distribution is a strong plus
  • Basic understanding of API integrations, automation workflows, and system architecture
  • Hands-on use of AI tools (e.g., MCP, ChatGPT, Cursor, GitHub Copilot) to boost productivity or experiment with creative automation
  • Bonus: ability to write simple scripts, automate reports, or use low-code/no-code platforms
